NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College volleyball team dropped a three set decision to Fairfield in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Hynes Center. The Gaels fell 25-23, 25-19, 25-16.
Senior OH Catrina Warren hit .432 and led the Gaels with a 17-dig, 10-dig double-double. She added an ace for a team-best 18.0 points. Freshman OH Kassandra Darnaby had six kills and senior RS Taylor Cembalisty added five kills and 12 digs. Senior libero Katie Marabella posted 18 digs. Senior setter Caris Myles had 25 assists, eight digs and three kills in the loss.
Fairfield senior RS Caitlin Stapleton had 14 kills and hit .519 to lead her team. Senior setter Carsen Mata had 44 assists while senior OH Megan Theiller and senior libero Camille Coffey had 20 digs a piece.
The Gaels are back in action tomorrow at the Hynes Center when they host Quinnipiac at 1:00 pm. The Maroon & Gold will honor Cembalisty, Marabella, Myles, Warren and Shannon Ward prior to the match on senior day.
