NEW ROCHELLE, NY –- To cap off an award winning week for The College of New Rochelle’s Jah-Leah Ellis the senior forward was named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week on Wednesday.

The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com’s weekly honor roll, in its 17th season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Ellis is just the second Blue Angel to ever receive this honor, joining Jasmine Brandon, who earned the award twice in the 2013-14 season.

The Harlem, NY native is named as one of the forwards on the five-woman team and is joined by guards Danyel Bradley of Howard Payne University, Alanna Vose of 20th ranked University of New England, forward Sydney Moss of third ranked Thomas Moore College, and center Lisa Murphy of Carnegie Mellon University.

This accolade comes on the heels of Ellis being named HVIAC Player of the Week and ECAC DIII Metro Player of the Week earlier this week.

Ellis averaged 21.7 points, 24.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.7 blocks per game in helping the Blue Angels to a 3-0 week, including repeating as Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament champions. She had 25 points, 27 rebounds, eight assists and three steals against Old Westbury in the opening round of the Shabazz Tournament, then capped off her tournament MVP weekend by falling an assist short of a triple double, tallying 28 points, 27 rebounds and nine assists, adding four steals and three blocks in the championship game win over Yeshiva.

In the latest NCAA DIII statistical rankings, Ellis leads DIII in rebounds per game (17.5) and offensive rebounds per game (8.0) as well as rebounds in a game (27) a total which is tied for the high water mark across all three divisions. She also ranks third in DIII with five double-doubles.

The College of New Rochelle returns to action on Friday, December 5, traveling to Patchogue, NY to take on St. Joseph’s College-Long Island in a non-conference game slated to tip at 7:00 PM.
