NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A suspected drunk-driver drove a black Mercedes sedan into a storefront at 711 Main Street in New Rochelle early Sunday morning causing structural damage to the building.
New Rochelle police responding to the scene found an abandoned car smashed into a structural support at the front of the building with the storefront windows smashed and broken out on both sides.
A license plate check showed the car registered to a New Rochelle resident. Police stopped a “person of interest” walking on Memorial Highway.
The storefront belongs to Ottavio’s Woodworking
The New Rochelle Building Department was called to the scene to assess the structural integrity of the building.
