Woman Injured in New Rochelle After Car Takes Out Utility Pole, Bursts into Flames

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A good samaritan pulled over on Quaker Ridge Road near Pinebrook Boulevard in New Rochelle and pulled an injured woman from the burning wreckage of a blue four-door sedan.

The woman’s vehicle struck a utility pole on Quaker Ridge Road in New Rochelle and burst into flames. The woman was pulled from the burning car by passersby. A doctor came upon the scene and treated the woman before paramedics arrived and took her to White Plains Hospital.

The utility pole was severed at the base and broken in half as wiring held the pole in place. The top of the utility pole remain suspended above the street. Residents in the area said they heard a loud bang and rushed outside. The crash did not disrupt electrical power to the area.

The front of the car was completely crushed and burned. Inside, the air bag deployed and the dashboard of the car was burned. Suitcases, visible in the trunk of the car appeared to be undamaged.
