NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Fine Fare Supermarket of New Rochelle will close its doors at the end of February or once the shelves are bare, which ever comes first, according to Store Manager Pedro Riezgo.
“There was just not enough walk-in business,” said Riezgo.
The store location at 366 Pelham Road has struggled to support a grocery store in recent years which was long the home of an A&P Supermarket.
In 2012, the store opened as a Key Food Supermarket in partnership with Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace. Key Food is a 120-store supermarket chain serving the New York area. Uncle Giuseppe’s Markerplace is a five store grocery store chain with locations on Long Island.
Fine Fare held is grand opening less than three months ago, on November 1st, 2014.
While it lasts there are good deals to be had. The store which was fully stocked earlier in the week is currently offering all products for sale at a 25% discount.
“We expect most perishable items — meat, fish, fruit, vegetables — to be gone by the weekend,” said Riezgo.
The store manager said the store will not be re-stocking any items so for those interested in saving some money on groceries, they need to act fast.
