BOSTON, MA — Iona College women’s indoor track junior Rosie Clarke led five Gaels at the 2015 Boston University John Thomas Terrier Invitational at BU’s Track and Tennis Center. Clarke lowered her own school record in the women’s mile set just last weekend by more than two seconds with her time of 4:35.01.
Clarke was the top collegiate finisher, topping the No. 2 finisher by more than nine seconds in the event. Last week at the Metro Team Challenge her time of 4:37.82 at Armory Track & Field Center was less than a second faster than her teammate Kate Avery’s mark set at the 2014 MAAC Championship. At the time of completion of the event, it was the second fastest time in the NCAA this season and currently stands at No. 4.
Senior Marlene Delices also ran a personal best time in the mile, as the 16th collegiate finisher in 4:58.23. It was also an ECAC qualifying time.
Senior Tara Jameson was the fourth collegiate finisher in the 3,000-meter run, beating her personal best time by nearly 22 seconds in 9:25.95. The time is one of the 40 fastest in the NCAA this season, ranking No. 34. Graduate student Melissa Hawtin was 24th in the 3k with her time of 9:53.05, an ECAC qualifying time. Freshman Jessica Scheriff rounded out Iona’s performers in Boston with a 10:18.72, the 40th collegiate finisher.
