Record Number of Blue Angels Named To HVIAC Fall All-Academic Team

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced its 2014 Fall All-Academic Team recently, and nine student-athletes from The College of New Rochelle were named HVIAC All-Academic.

 The nine student-athletes honored represent the most for CNR for the Fall Season and equals Winter/Spring 2011 for the most recognition.

 Of the 115 named All-Academic, 19 also received All-Conference honors in their respective sports and 42 were repeat All-Academic honorees.  Instituted in the 2010-11 season, the All-Academic Team recognizes excellence both in the field of play and in the classroom.

The CNR Volleyball team had four student-athletes achieve All-Academic standing, which ranked the Blue Angels second among HVIAC Volleyball Teams.  All four honorees were seniors, as Shamella Bartholomew (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker), Erica Cuscina (Patterson, NY/School of the Holy Child), Diana Desir (Spring Valley, NY/Spring Valley) and Meghan King (New City, NY/Clarkstown North) were all recognized.

Three members of the cross country team, juniors Tayler Fisher (Wilmington, DE/Conrad School of Science) and Vyanna Todd (Bronx, NY/Life Sciences Secondary School), and sophomore Jenean Igmat (New Milford, NJ/New Milford) earned this honor, while senior Kendra Michel (South Richmond Hill, NY/Clara Barton) and junior Deanna Tozzo (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland) from the tennis team each achieved the excellence in the classroom requisite to receiving this accolade.

The All-Academic Team consists of student-athletes who have reached sophomore academic standing and have earned a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or better at the conclusion of the fall semester, and participate in one of the conference’s fall sports – men’s soccer, men’s cross country, women’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and women’s cross countr
