BUFFALO, NY — The Iona College women’s swimming and diving team concluded the 2015 MAAC Championships Saturday evening. After four days of competing, the Gaels placed sixth, totaling 376 points.
The 400 yard freestyle saw freshman Elizabeth Kaczmarek, juniors Mary Ellen Mangione and Leigh Musselman, and sophmore Natalie Bowman take fourth in the contest, touching at 3:32.89.
Bowman competed in the 100 free, taking fourth at 52.68. Following behind was Kaczmarek in thirteenth, finishing at 54.52.
In the rest individual races, Mangione took a silver medal for the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:21.50. Musselman completed the 200 backstroke with a touch time of 2:08.47, placing her in ninth. Freshamn Kaitlyn Mahon finished in tenth for the 1650 free at 17:48.81.
The weekend concluded for the Gaels with Freshman Alex DiBase taking seventh, at 2:10.36, for the 200 butterfly. Sophmore Maria Lopez tied for 19th at 2:19.79, while freshman Kendall Magill finished in twenty-secondth with a touch time of 2:21.88.
Marist claimed the title with 860-points, followed by Canisius (528), Rider (436.5), St. Peter’s (407) and Siena (388). Training Iona were Fairfield (298), Niagara (297) and Manhattan (141.5).
