Coalition for Mutual Respect to Hold 25th Annual Interfaith Seder Dinner at Iona College on March 26th

The Coalition for Mutual Respect will hold its 25th annual Interfaith Seder Dinner at Iona College on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The Seder is held during the two weeks preceding Passover.

Each year a planning group is led by Rabbi Emeritus Amiel Wohl of Temple Israel, and the Reverend Michael Rouse, Minister of St. Catherine A.M.E. Zion Church in New Rochelle – the two co-chair the Coalition for Mutual Respect- as well as the Student Ministry leaders of the Catholic colleges, plus other clergy and laity form the planning committee.

The Coalition was created with the aim of educating the New Rochelle Community and the County of Westchester to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and to lesson tensions by means of joint educational and cultural activities.

The service in the Haggadah is framed around the traditional Passover-Seder Service Haggadah as presented in the Union Haggadah of the CCAR. Portions from the UAHC Model Interfaith Seder, the Koran, the writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela and others who were prominent in the freedom struggle are utilized. Each year a people struggling for freedom are highlighted.The service has been compiled and edited by Rabbi Emeritus Amiel Wohl and each year it enjoys some variation. The musical portion of the Seder has featured singing groups such as the Songcatchers led by Sister Beth Dowd.

A Passover style meal will be served at a total cost of $25.00 per person. Participants can sponsor a young person by adding $25.00 to the reservation check.
