New Rochelle Police Department Issues Coyote Warning

The New Rochelle Police Department has Issued a coyote warning for the area around New Rochelle High School and Iona College. 

The NRPD recommends taking the following cautions to avoid conflict:

Do not feed coyotes.

  • Remove all outside food sources including pet food and bird seed.
  • Make your garbage inaccessible.
  • Don’t let your pets run free.

Police advise that if you see a seemingly healthy coyote, be aggressive in your behavior: make loud noises, wave your arms, throw sticks and stones. If the animal seems sick or aggressive, call the Police Department.
