NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City of New Rochelle is recruiting qualified youth residents (currently in 9th – 10th grades) to serve on the Board of Commissioners of the New Rochelle Youth Board, according to City Manager Charles B. Strome. There are several vacancies open at this time. Interested candidates must be New Rochelle residents. “Joining the Board is a great way for youth residents – especially those who have an interest in youth issues and community services – to step forward and provide leadership and creative suggestions for our City’s youth population,” said City Manager Charles B. Strome, III.
“Having youth on our Board of Commissioners enables us to include a necessary voice regarding future youth development and general advocacy of youth needs,” said Kelly Johnson, Youth Bureau Director.
The Board of Commissioners is comprised of twenty-one (21) volunteer members who meet regularly at City Hall on the third Tuesday of every month. The normal term is four (4) years. The Board continually strives to meet the challenging needs and concerns of the City’s youth population, up through twenty-one (21) years old.
