NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring a new Invasive Vine Removal program on Sunday, March 22nd. It will be held at Ward Acres Park, at the corner of Broadfield and Quaker Ridge Road between 12 noon – 3 pm. No prior experience necessary.
The program begins with a formal training workshop from 12 noon – 1pm led by Master Gardener and Task Committee Coordinator Bob DelTorto, followed by vine removal from 1pm – 3pm led by Task Force Leaders Julie Larkin and Rob Feuer. This is a great volunteer opportunity for students looking for community service, and for anyone who just wants to lend a hand. All tools and safety equipment will be provided by the New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A second vine removal event is scheduled for Sunday, April 19th at the same location.
