New Rochelle Police are investigating a shooting incident at about 5 a.m. Friday morning on Morris Street not far from the intersection of North Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

Shots were fired at two parked cars. Shell casings and bullet fragments were found at the scene.

The street has been a notorious haven for criminals over the years with drug arrests, shootings and summer block parents that draw a heavy police prescence.

No injuries were reported.

Morris Street is one of the more dangerous, crime-ridden streets in New Rochelle. Inexplicably, News12 described the neighborhood as a “quiet” and “kid-friendly” New Rochelle neighborhood.

Talk of the Sound partner SpotCrime paints a different story of Morris Street.

A Fourth of July block party turned ugly when a 23-year-old man was stabbed early Sunday morning, police said. About a dozen cops were dispatched to Morris Street off North Avenue around 2:40 a.m. after several officers monitoring the party called for reinforcements. When they arrived, they found an unruly crowd estimated at 100 to 150 people..Though the police have not given a detailed version of events, residents said the fight involved many people and a lot of drinking. Residents said this is not the first fight on Morris Street…On Sunday morning, beer and liquor bottles lay scattered in the street and food debris poked out of overflowing trash cans.

There is more but its enough to make the point that Morris Street is many things but a “quiet” and “kid-friendly” neighborhood is not one of them.
