The College of New Rochelle Graduate School Hosts Summer Childhood Education Program

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Graduate School provides summer programs at Ward Elementary School in New Rochelle for children between the ages of 3-8 years old. The program runs from July 6 through July 31, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“These programs will create space where children can develop their skills intellectually and socially through stimulating activities within an inclusive learning environment. Mentor teachers and CNR graduate students, who are currently completing their Master’s degrees, work as a collaborative team,” explained Dr. Candace Barriteau Phaire, Chair of the Graduate School Education Division. The program features developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the goals of the Common Core.

Children ages 3 to 5 years old will participate in group activities involving literacy and math, creative arts, dramatic play, music and movement, block building and outdoor play.  Children ages 6 to 8 years old will engage in group activities including social studies, science, nature, outdoor play, creative arts, music and movement, and technology. Small group and individualized instruction is integrated in the daily program to ensure the progress of each child.

The camp is located at the Ward Elementary School in New Rochelle. Tuition is $1,250, with limited scholarships available.
