BOSTON, MA — Senior Marlene Delices led three Iona College women’s indoor track performers at the 2015 ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Boston University’s Track and Tennis Center this weekend.
Delices finished fourth in the 800-meter event with her time of 2:09.69. Delices was less than a second behind the race winner, Georgetown sophomore Heather Martin. She qualified for the final event with a 2:10.65 in the preliminary round, the sixth fastest time and second in the third of three heats. Delices final time was a personal best by two seconds and ranks No. 2 on Iona’s all-time indoor 800m list.
Rookie Rachel Garn was 11th in the 1,000-meter event finishing with a time of 2:52.05. She was fourth in her heat and missed qualifying for the finals by just over a second. Garn also set a personal best time in the event and set an Iona freshman record in the 1k.
Junior Melissa Hawtin rounded out the Gaels’ performance in the ECAC Championships with a personal best time in the 3,000-meter run, finishing 16th with a time of 9:45.71.
