PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC- Iona College junior Kate Avery and graduate student Rosie Clarke competed in Prague at the 2015 European Indoor Track Championships for their native Great Britain this past weekend.
Avery competed in the 3,000 meter race, finishing 13th in the qualifying round with a time of 9:05.14. Her finish was short of qualifying for the final race by one spot. Russia’s Yelena Korobkina took the gold in 8:47.62 in the final race.
In the 1,500 meter race, Clarke finished sixth with a time of 4:16.49, a new personal best. Clarke holds the Iona school record for the mile race (only 109 meters more than the 1500m) with a time of 4:31.78. She was seven seconds behind the gold medal winner, The Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan.
Clarke completes the 2014-15 indoor season for the Maroon & Gold as its lone representative at the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track Championships in Fayetteville, AR at the University of Arkansas.
