New Rochelle Teachers Union Will Spend Weekend Encouraging Parents to Keep Kids Out of New York State Assessments

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle teachers union (“FUSE), in concert with New York State United Teachers (“NYSUT”), the state teacher’s union, has organized a grassroots effort to raises awareness among parents of children in grades 3-8 of their right to opt-out of the New York State assessments scheduled for next week, according to an email sent by FUSE President Martin Daly to union members yesterday.

FUSE members will be canvassing local grocery stores, churches and shopping centers this weekend to distribute information about the “Refuse the Tests” Opt-Out movement.

FUSE Members will be at the following locations this weekend:

(update, the entire schedule for Sunday has been cancelled and the Costco locations have been cancelled due to a prohibition by Costco against handing out flyers on their property)

Friday April 10th (5 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
