QUEENS, NY – The Iona College softball team fell to St. John’s 4-1 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Red Storm Field.
Senior CF Allison Hand and sophomore LF Ashlyn Morris has two hits apiece, with Hand adding the team’s lone RBI on a third inning single.
With the game knotted at one, St. John’s delivered the decisive blow in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Brittany Garcia connected on a three run homer to break the tie.
Junior P Jordan Courage took the loss for Iona, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks in 1.1 innings. Redshirt sophomore P Christine Costello made the start, allowing four hits and one run over 4.0 innings of work.
The Gaels are back in action Saturday afternoon, when they head to Marist for a MAAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
