NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle incumbent City Councilwoman Shari Rackman announced today her intention to seek a second term on the New Rochelle City Council. Rackman, who was first elected in 2011 to represent district 6, has been an independent and active member of the council, and cites her community involvement as well as her concerns for smart economic development as hallmarks of her first term.
“Our city, from the City Council to residents, is evaluating economic development reforms that could greatly improve the Queen City. As a New Rochelle councilwoman, I have been very involved in this process and look forward to the productive involvement of all of our residents, so that together we can enjoy a thriving and economically vibrant downtown.”
Rackman continued, “I will be running on my positive record and look forward to speaking directly with the wonderful residents in District 6 about my accomplishments on the City Council. I understand the needs of District 6, and it has been my pleasure and honor to have represented this district for the last four years.”
Shari Rackman has lived in New Rochelle for over 34 years, raising a family and running her own business and law practice in Westchester. Four generations of Shari’s extended family have lived in New Rochelle. As an attorney, Shari specializes in family law and mediation, making sure that the most difficult negotiations of a person’s life are handled fairly and compassionately. Shari is dedicated to offering her services to clients unable to afford legal representation. She was recently honored with a New York State Bar Association Award of merit in recognition of her legal advocacy for women. Additionally, Shari has been a volunteer court attorney for Westchester Family Court and is a member of the Westchester Women’s Bar Association. She helped draft the Safe Schools Yeshiva Network Policy on drug and alcohol use, and has worked with at-risk teens through NY-NCSY.
