NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Two New Rochelle men are suing the New York Police Department and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton related to an incident involving a 28-year-old Yonkers resident.

While in Pelham, NYPD Police officer Brendan Cronin allegedly fired his service weapon 14 times at a car occupied Joe Felice and Rob Borrelli, both of New Rochelle. Felice was struck by six bullets. Borelli, was who was driving the vehicle drove the injured man to Montefiore New Rochelle hospital.

Cronin has reportedly been drinking in City Island while off-duty.

Felice and Borrelli both play hockey for the New Rochelle Wranglers. The two men were returning from a hockey game when they came under fire while stopped at a red light.

Cronin has offered no explanation for his actions and claims he does not remember firing his weapon.

In a press conference in his lawyer’s office in 2014, Felice stated “What happened to Rob and me was a random act of violence committed by a ruthless man. This could have happened to anyone. I just happened to be coming home from winning a hockey game.”

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
