Michael Pires, Army Vet, Dies at 63

NEW ROCHELLE, NY –Michael J. Pires, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, passed away July 19, 2015 following a year long battle with cancer. Born October 25, 1951 to James and Carminda Pires, Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Military Police at Ft. Gordon, Ga. Following his honorable discharge from The Army, Michael worked in the office furniture and marine supply businesses. Pre-deceased by his parents, he is survived by his brother Steve (Irene), nephew Brian and niece Lori Magnante (Chris). Also, great niece and nephews Minda, Joseph and Brandon. The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff of The James J. Peters V.A. Medical Center, Bronx NY for the compassion and care given to Michael during his long and difficult battle and to The Calvary Home Hospice Team for their end-of-life care. A memorial service celebrating Michael’s life will be held in September.
