Drunk Man Parks in Middle of Intersection, Passes Out: Malcolm Menyenguemfoula, 23, of New Rochelle, NY was arrested and charged with one count of Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor after police found him unresponsive at about 6:00 AM on August 4th. Menyenguemfoula’s car was stopped in the middle of the intersection of Locust Avenue and Fairview Place. The engine was running and the brake was engaged with Menyenguemfoula asleep at the wheel.
Police interviewed Menyenguemfoula and noticed a very strong odor of alcohol on his breath. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He swayed while he was being interviewed. Menyenguemfoula was given various field sobriety tests and failed all of them. He refused a breathalyzer test twice.
An inventory check of Menyenguemfoula’s vehicle showed one metal flask containing an alcoholic beverage taken from the center console, a green grinder with marijuana residue from under the front passenger seat, one full can of Keystone Light from the front passenger seat, one blue cooler containing 12 full cans of Keystone Light, seven empty cans of Keystone Light from the trunk and an open Svedka vodka bottle from the passenger side backseat.
Romp in Park Leads to Pot Bust: Britanny Brand, 21, formerly of Sleepy Hollow, NY was arrested by New Rochelle police after admitting a marijuana cigarette found in a car was hers.
New Rochelle police observed two individuals engaging in sexual intercourse in a vehicle at Hudson Park at about 11:00 p.m. on August 3rd in New Rochelle.
While interviewing the two parties, police detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle turned up a burnt marijuana cigarette on the floor in the back seat of the vehicle. One of the two parties, Brand, admitted that the marijuana cigarette was hers. Brand was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, a violation.
Active Warrant Leads to Drug Charges: José Vargas, 22, was arrested by New Rochelle police on an active New Rochelle arrest warrant at the intersection of Union Avenue and 3rd Street.
Police found four bags of marijuana inside Vargas’s left front pocket. Vargas was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.
Driver Makes DWI Arrest Most Convenient for NRPD: New Rochelle police arrested Christopher Rosado, 26, on charges related to drunk driving. Rosado was stopped directly in front of police headquarters at about 5:00 a.m. and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with .08 of 1% or More Alcohol in Blood – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor and Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor.
Rosado was arrested after police driving in the area of 720 North Avenue heard a loud engine being revved and then observed a red Jeep with Florida license plates traveling southbound on North Avenue. Police observed the vehicle swerve in the left lane to the right lane and back to the left lane and cross the double yellow line.
While interviewing Rosado police detected an alcoholic odor on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. Rosado stated that he was coming from Chuggers and was going to the diner. The Mirage Diner is no longer located on North Avenue. He then stated he had two drinks and was taking the passenger to the train station. Rosado was given various field sobriety test which he failed at which point he was arrested and charged.
Rosado was issued five summonses including Operating a Motor Vehicle with .08 of 1% or More Alcohol in Blood – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor, Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense, a Class U Misdemeanor, Failure to Keep Right on a Two-Lane Road, a Violation, Driving with an Obstructed View, a Violation, and Failure to use Designated Lane, a Violation.
Slasher Attacks Man with Knife: New Rochelle police responded to a report of an assault with a knife at about 3:30 AM on August 3rd in front of El Paradiso Bar at 103 Union Avenue in New Rochelle.
Complainant stated that at about 2:30 AM he exited the bar and upon walking up to the curb a man known to him attacked him with a knife. Complaint stated that he was able to avoid most of the strikes but the attacker was able to slice his left arm The complainant said he did not know why the suspect would want to hurt him. The suspect was described as a Male/Hispanic wearing a brown button-down shirt and blue jeans.
Citibank Scammer Strikes Twice: New Rochelle police responded to a report of a past larceny at about 3:30 p.m. on August 3 at the Citibank Branch at 238 North Avenue in New Rochelle.
Complainant, the Securities Investigation Manager at the bank, stated that between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m, a Male/Hispanic with a thick accent went to the teller and gave the teller five $100 bills and asked for what she thought was $20 bills. The suspect grabbed the cash and then put an envelope on top of the money and flipped the envelope over the that only contained $300 worth of $20 bills.
Complainant stated that in surveillance video, the suspect’s right-hand is cupped and during the transaction the suspect goes to his right pant’s pocket. Suspects handed the cash back and asked for a traveler’s check instead. Advised that this could not be done because he did not have an account at the bank the suspect walked out. The suspect got away with $200 in $20 bills.
Complainant reported that the same suspect did the same scam at a White Plains Citibank branch later that morning at about 10:00 a.m.
Suspect is in his 40’s, about 5’ 7”, 180 pounds, wearing a blue button-down shirt and dark shorts.
Shady Thief Strikes CVS: New Rochelle police responded to a report of a larceny in the past at the CVS Store at 222 North Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. on August 3rd in New Rochelle.
The complaint, an Assistant Store Manager of CVS, stated that an employee informed her of a person stealing sunglasses and that the suspect had left the store. A review of video surveillance showed a Male/Black, bald, wearing a red shirt blue pants, taking sunglasses. She stated the suspect took 36 pairs of sunglasses which added up to $679.64. She found 36 sunglasses tags placed in a lunch bag. The surveillance video was provided to police.
Knife Stolen from Car: New Rochelle police responded to the report of a past larceny from a motor vehicle at about 6:00 PM on August 3rd on East Place in New Rochelle.
The complainant stated that a folding knife was stolen from his car. He said his relative has surveillance cameras outside his home and that the video shows three youths enter the unlocked vehicle in the morning at about 9:17 AM.
Car Ransacked, Robbed, Covered with Toilet Paper: New Rochelle police responded to a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle on Church Street at about 7:00 a.m. on August 4th in New Rochelle.
Complainant stated that between midnight and 6:00 a.m. someone entered his vehicle and took $15 from the center console. Complainant stated that the vehicle was parked during that timeframe in the rear shared driveway of his home and he left the doors to the vehicle unlocked. Complainant stated that the passenger door was left ajar after the money was taken and the vehicle was ransacked. There was no damage to the vehicle. Also there was toilet tissue spread and left on top of the vehicle roof and hood. Complaint stated he was unaware as to who could have done this to him.
Girls Hustle Pizza Man, Get Busted by Dad: New Rochelle police responded to the complaint of a larceny at 730 Pelham Road about 6:00 p.m. on August 4th in New Rochelle.
The complaint, a delivery person for Domino’s pizza, stated that he took an order for food for an apartment. The customer said the buzzer was broken. He called to tell the customer that he was downstairs in the lobby. He was met by two Female/Blacks who appeared to be customers. He handed over the food to one female while the other rummaged through her purse appearing to be looking for means to pay the bill. Female with the food left the lobby and the other female ran away without paying the $49.95 bill that was owed. Complainant ran after the female and saw that she went into a certain apartment.
While interviewing the victim, a man came by and asked the police if they were here for that same apartment and advised police that one of the girl’s was his daughter and the other was her friend The father paid the money that was owed. The pizza delivery man declined to pursue charges.
Thieves Steal Thousands Worth of Products at CVS: New Rochelle police responded to a report of a past larceny at the CVS Store between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on August 3rd.
Complaint, the store manager, stated that four unknown suspects entered and exited the store and shoplifted multiple items valued at over $5,000.
The Loss Prevention Manager at the store provided police with surveillance video that showed the four suspects working in concert entering and exiting the store stealing multiple items. All four suspects were observed entering and exiting a total of seven times. On the video, the suspects are seen walking in to the store and filling up a red CVS basket and then putting the items into a large dark purse and leaving the store without making any attempt to pay. The items stolen were cosmetic items, over-the-counter cough and cold medicines and over-the-counter allergy medicines. In all 206 items were listed as stolen. There is no video outside the store that provides a possible identification of a get-away vehicle.
FiOS Phone Fraud: New Rochelle police received a walk-in complaint of fraud at Police Headquarters at about 10:00 a.m. on August 5th.
Complaint stated that she went to open up a Verizon FiOS account and was informed by Verizon that she had an outstanding bill in the amount of $2,000. Complainant advised that she never had a Verizon FiOS account in the past. Verizon advised her that someone opened an account in her name which was active from December 2013 until April 2014.
Leaky Worker Wrangles Empty Wallet: New Rochelle police received a walk-in complaint at Police Headquarters of a past larceny at The Boulevard at about 1:00 p.m. on August 5th.
Complainant stated he had workers inside his apartment on Tuesday, August 4 between 9:00 a.m.and 1:00 p.m. He stated he placed his wallet and property box, with contents on his dining room table. He said one worker was repeatedly using the bathroom and had to pass the dining room table. When he noticed his wallet missing all the other workers were on the scene except the suspect. No money was in the wallet.
Bold Thief Bags Cans: New Rochelle police received a report of a larceny in Edgewood Park at about 7:30 p.m. on August 5th in New Rochelle.
Complainant stated that someone stole nine clear plastic bags containing assorted cans and bottles from the front porch. He said he had left the home at 5:40 AM leaving nine clear plastic bags containing assorted empty cans and bottles on the front porch. At noon his wife called to say that the plastic bags were missing. Complaint stated plastic bags in the contents was valued at $150.
Welding Tools Robbed: New Rochelle police received a complaint of a larceny from a motor vehicle at Memorial Highway at about 10:00 p.m. on August 5th in New Rochelle.
Complainant stated that he parked his vehicle at about 8:20 PM and when he returned at 9:45 PM he noticed the driver door was slightly ajar. When he opened the door there was a cigarette odor in the vehicle and ashes on the seat. He observed that his backpack filled with miscellaneous tools including a tape measure, a welding shield and gloves and welding certificates were missing. Complainant stated items were worth $300.
Man Returns Home to Punch in Face: New Rochelle responded to a report of a past assault at Russell Avenue by unknown parties at approximately 4:00 a.m. on August 7th in New Rochelle.
The complaint stated that at about 3:30 a.m. he came home after hanging out with some friends and was assaulted by three unknown Male/Blacks outside his apartment. He said when he arrived home he went into his building which is always left unlocked and encountered three unknown parties standing on the landing in front of his apartment door. He said that he confronted the three unknown parties asking them what they’re doing in his building. One of them stated “You live here?” and punched him in the face. The complaint said that he was knocked to the ground as three parties fled in an unknown direction.
