NEW YORK, NY –The Monroe College women’s soccer team opened its exhibition season on Thursday by facing NCAA Division I opponent, Saint Francis University, in Loretto, Pennsylvania. The Mustangs scored a goal, but fell to the Red Flash, 4-1.
The first half featured the starting 11 for Monroe dominating play. They led 1-0 at the break as Kathellen Sousa connected with Nicole Rivera for the half’s only marker.
The second half saw the Mustangs get several newcomers and all the reserves into the game. They gained valuable game experience against a Division I opponent.
Monroe opens its regular-season on Monday night, August 31, when they host Nassau Community College at City Park in New Rochelle. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 PM
