NEW YORK, NY –The Iona College golf team left Seven Oaks Golf Club placing sixth at the Colgate Invitational. Iona finished with a count of 931 (+67) as a team, twenty strokes behind the winners, Youngstown State.
Iona entered the final day of the event tied for seventh place, and due in large part to strong final rounds from Kevin Kramarski and Brendan Kim, the Gaels were able to make a final push up the standings.
Kramarski finished his final round with a score of 69 (-3), the lowest score of all competitors in the final go around. The sophomore moved up 13 spots and placed sixth individually, tallying a mark of 225 (+9).
Kim rebounded from yesterday’s performance, shooting a 74 (+2) in his final round. His score marked a nine stroke improvement from his best scorecard on Saturday.
The entire Maroon and Gold squad shot below 80 today. Devin Delisle and Brian Fitzpatrick each shot 78 (+6), and Paolo Matti shot a 77 (+5).
Sunday’s performance by Iona was their best of the weekend, shooting a combined 298 as a team. The Gaels had the lone tally below 300 amongst all the competing teams on the final day.
Iona next returns to the course at the Rutgers Invitational in Piscataway, NJ, at the Rutgers Golf Course.
