NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College golf team finished day 1 of the Rutgers Invitational in 12th place, shooting a team total of 599 (+31). The Maroon and Gold sit 38 strokes behind the leaders after two rounds, the Towson Tigers (-7)
In the morning, after the opening round, The Gaels sat 25 shots behind the leaders, Towson. The Tigers shot a collective 7-under, 277 total, after the opening 18.
The top performer in round 1 for the Maroon and Gold was Kevin Kramarski. The sophomore finished round 1 with a 73 (+2), tying him for 17th overall.
Joining Kramarski at the blow 76 (+5) benchmark was Devin Delisle. The freshman maneuvered the course just one shot off his teammate’s page, shooting an opening round 77 (+6).
Round two saw better overall scores for Iona, shooting a 297 after an opening total of 302. Kramarski also made up ground on the individual leaders, picking up a 69 (-3), and moving into a tie for seventh place overall with a total score of 142 (-1).
The Gaels return to the course tomorrow morning for the conclusion of the Rutgers Invitational.
