NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College women’s soccer team took a road loss Friday afternoon, 5-0 at Bucknell.
The Gaels’ defense were on their heels the entire game, facing a combined 33 total shots, and 10 corner kicks. Iona netminder Lauren Ferris made 12 saves in the game.
The Bison were led by Kendall Ham, who registered three goals in the game. The hat trick consisted of a 20 yard left strike in the 8th minute, then two rebound goals in the 23rd and 77th minute.
The Maroon and Gold were in it at halftime, trailing only 2-0, and being outshot 10-5. The second half belonged to the Bison; they peppered the Iona defense, firing 23 shots and earning seven corner kick opportunites.
The offense from Iona stemmed from Charlotte Stuart who had three shots in the contest. Her teammates Brianna Hernandez and Corinne Burns each had a shot on goal, the lone two saves that Bison goalie Jessica Ratner had to make.
The Maroon and Gold return to the pitch Sunday, Sep. 13, at Columbia.
