Men’s Cross Country Opens Season at Fordham Fiasco Run

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College cross country team opened its 2015 season on Saturday with a ninth-place finish in the Fordham Fiasco run from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.  Mpho Makafone led the Mustangs with a third-place finish in the five-mile run.

Makafone was competing in the Division II, III and Junior College field and was the highest-placing juco runner with a third-place time of 27:56.38.  Kipkoech Collins was the next Monroe runner to cross the line, marking a time of 33:05.62.  Kamar Harris finished 56th, seven slots behind Collins.  His time was 33:39.35.  Brian Rodriguez crossed the tape in a time of 36:29.03 in his collegiate debut.  Krishane Bowers clocked a time of 38:53.34 in the race.  Jamel Johnson came across the finish in 60th, with a time of 38:59.42.  The next Mustangs runner to end was Aaron McFadden who put up a time of 40:06.65. Finally, Pierre Richardson (44:40.81) and Anthony Robinson (45:51.20) finished back to back.

The Monroe College cross country team returns to action on Saturday, September 19, when they compete in the Cairn College Invitational in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
