NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police responded to a report of larceny at North Avenue and Summit Avenue on at about 5 p.m. on September 17 in New Rochelle, NY.
Complainant, a juvenile who was with his father, stated that he was standing at North Avenue and Summit Avenue, texting on his phone when he was approached by a Male/Black on a bicycle who asked “Can I see your phone”. Complainant stated that he nervously handed the phone to the Male/Black who began asking for the password for lock screen. The complaint stated that when he did not provide the password the Male/Black began riding away southbound on North Avenue and yelled “if you want your phone back then come and get it”. The suspect was described as a Male/Black wearing all-white baseball jersey that was unbuttoned. The bicycle was described as a dark colored mountain bike. The phone was described as a white iPhone 5c with a picture of “Stewie” from “Family Guy” on the lock screen
A witness to the incident stated that he knows the suspect and he usually hangs out in front of a location on North Avenue and that he wished to assist in retrieving the phone. Complainant’s father stated they do not wish to pursue charges and only wish to get the phone back.
The suspect was located standing in front of 309 North Avenue. Upon sight of a police presence, the suspect ran inside the building. In the building, on the ground in the stairwell, police found a white iPhone 5c laying on the ground. The phone had a picture of “Stewie” on its lock screen and appeared to be the complaints phone. Police returned the undamaged phone to the complaint.
