NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police arrested Bristy Vazquez, 23, of New Rochelle, NY on charges related to driving while intoxicated shortly before 8 a.m. on September 18 on Union Avenue in New Rochelle.
Vasquez was charged with DWI Previous Conviction Designated Offense Within 10 Years, a Class E Felony, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle First-Degree a Class E Delony, Aggravated DWI Blood Alcohol Content .18 or More One Prior Conviction in the Past 10 Years, a Class E Felony, and Circumventing an Interlocking Device Subject to a Court Order and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Device, a Class A Misdemeanor.
New Rochelle police observed a vehicle driven by Vazquez swerving as it was driven westbound on Union Avenue. The vehicle then passed a steady red light at Union Avenue and Webster Avenue, still going westbound. Police initiated a traffic stop. While interviewing Vasquez, and odor of alcoholic beverage was emanating from her breath in her eyes appeared bloodshot. She was given three field sobriety test which failed. She was arrested, taken to police headquarters where she refused a chemical test. She later agreed to a breath test which revealed that she had a blood alcohol content above .18.
