NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Washington Seminar Trip is a great opportunity for our juniors to experience our nation’s capital. From the Capitol Building, to the Holocaust Museum, to the many memorials scattered around D.C., the girls are surrounded by the history of our nation. To fit in with the curriculum, juniors walk around the WWII memorial, follow a person’s holocaust story throughout the museum, watch documentaries focusing on 9/11 and the history of the news at the Newseum, and laugh throughout the entirety of the play “Shear Madness.”
This year we had the pleasure of visiting this historic city alongside the Papal visit. Before departing on the trip, all were concerned with the delays and changes that would need to be made due to His Holiness’ presence. Fortunately, the reality was quite the opposite. In fact, the chaperons and our hired tour guides now jokingly suggest going to D.C. for every Papal visit. Our coach buses easily maneuvered around the city, and the sites were much less populated than in previous years. Unfortunately, however, nobody was able to catch a glimpse of the man in white riding in the backseat of a Fiat!
All in all, the Washington Seminar Trip is a fun and educational opportunity for our juniors to experience the beauty and history of our country.
