NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Joseph Starvaggi, Assistant Principal at New Rochelle High School, announced this afternoon that the school had received a bomb threat which lead to an evacuation of the building.
“A secretary received a phone call from a male who stated ‘School got bomb”, said Starvaggi. “We evacuated and the police gave us clearance to return after they did a walk-through.”
The sequence of events described by Starvaggi is in keeping with the building level security protocol contained in the SAVE Law Safety Plan for New Rochelle High School. It contradicts a “revised” plan implemented two years ago when a series of such threats led the school to discontinue the practice of immediate evacuation and adopt a policy of consultation with the police department prior to evacuation.
