NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle (CNR) co-sponsored the New York Archdiocese’s 7th Annual Summer Seminars for High School Educators at Cathedral High School in Manhattan, during which twelve educators from CNR led workshops. The event, created to provide professional development support to Catholic educators, was attended by more than 550 teachers and administrators from 35 high schools across the Archdiocese.
“We are proud to have played such an integral part in this important event, which is so aligned with our mission of reaching out and supporting the community. This event was particularly rewarding because it offered our staff an opportunity to share learning and knowledge in their areas of expertise and interact directly with the Catholic educational community,” commented Dr. Dorothy Escribano, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at The College of New Rochelle.
This year’s 54 workshops were designed to help teachers improve instruction and to provide administrators and department chairs with new insights into teacher supervision. Workshops led by faculty of The College of New Rochelle included: Challenges Facing Teachers and Administrators: A Holistic Approach, Dr. Walter Sullivan; Creating an Information Literacy Course, from Concept to Syllabus to Success, Ana Fontoura, Dean, Gill Library and Kathleen S. Mannino, Reference Librarian; and Independence and Self-Advocacy, Elaine T. White, Vice President for Student Services and Tiffani Blake, Dean of Students.
