NEW ROCHELLE, NY –The Iona College volleyball team dropped a three set decision to Manhattan in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Hynes Center. The Jaspers took the match 25-19, 25-18, 27-25.
Freshman OH Amanda Gannon led the Maroon & Gold with eight kills while adding nine digs. Rookie OH Claire Archibald chipped in six kills, 13 digs and two blocks. Freshman MH Mia Bonsignore and junior RS Kate Brodnax had four kills and seven digs each. Brodnax added four blocks while Bonsignore had two. Junior MH Karly White matched Brodnax with the team-high four blocks. Senior setter Natalie Ziskin posted a double-double with 19 assists and 11 digs while adding two kills and a block. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci posted a team-high 16 digs.
Manhattan was led by 12 kills apiece from Claire Van Dyk and Milena Janjusevic. Setter Jade Gray posted 29 assists and 14 digs while libero Allie Yamashiro had a match-high 22 digs in the win.
The Gaels have off Sunday and return to action Wednesday night in non-conference play at St. Francis Brooklyn Wednesday before hosting Saint Peter’s and Rider at the Hynes Center next weekend.
