NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College men’s cross country team ran to a fifth-place finish at the NJIT HIghlander Invitational from Branch Brook Park in New Jersey on Saturday. Sophomore Mpho Makafone paced the team in the 8K run with an 8th place finish.
Makafone’s 8th place time was 26:47.74. Finishing several spots behind was Kipkoech Collins, who crossed at 27:29.93, a personal best and good for 17th-place. After that Tevin Aitken was at 29:01, Jaymes Dennison came in at 30:14.41, Qasim Ray at 31:04.93, Kamar Harris in 31:11.15.
From there, Christian Patterson posted a mark of 31:49.79, Rajay Hinds in 34:01.20, Kirshane Bowers in 34:08, Brian Rodriguez at 34:15, Jamel Johnson at 35:12 and Richardson Pierre at 35:27. The Monroe College men’s cross country team returns to action on Sunday, October 11, when they compete at the CCNY Invite in the Bronx.
