NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle Women’s Volleyball team remained perfect in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday with a three-set win over the Culinary Institute of America. The Blue Angels won by game scores of 28-26, 25-17, 25-17, to improve to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in league play. Culinary falls to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
The Blue Angels uncharacteristically made a total of 23 attack errors on the day to go with eight service errors. The miscues led to a first game that was way to close for comfort for CNR. Despite the slow start, CNR was able to pull out the extra point win.
For the match, CNR was led by sophomore Fabioila Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR) who finished with 11 kills and 14 digs along with two blocks. Junior Indigo Flowers (San Francisco, CA) led all players with 17 assists while also adding two blocks. Junior Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) finished with 15 assists and six service aces, which equalled the total for Culinary as a team.
CNR, which has now won 9 straight games, will travel to Old Westbury on Tuesday for a non-conference match at 6:00pm on Long Island.
