NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to St. Francis Brooklyn in non-conference action at the Genovesi Center. The Terriers took the final two sets to erase a 2-1 deficit in the win.
Junior OH Kate Brodnax led the Gaels with a career-high 12 kills to go along with another career-high 29 attack attempts in her first start on the left side. She was one dig shy of a double-double with nine. Freshman OH Claire Archibald chipped in 11 kills, nine digs, two blocks and two aces while hitting .333 with at team-best 14 points scored. Junior MH Karly White had 10 kills and four blocks and hit a team-high .350 in the loss. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci posted 17 digs. Senior setter Natalie Ziskin had 27 assists and eight digs while rookie setter Emma Rose chipped in 18 assists and six digs.
St. Francis was led by Maggie Niu’s 18 kills, Alexa Caporucio’s 13 digs and Kelly O’Halloran’s 25 assists in the win.
The Gaels return home this weekend, hosting Saint Peter’s and Rider at the Hynes Center.
