NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College women’s cross country team completed action at the 2015 Wisconsin Adidas Invitational Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmer XC Course. Senior Tara Jameson was the Gaels’ top performer in 116th place, completing the 6,000-meter course in 21:09.6.
Jameson was followed by Maroon & Gold senior Melissa Hawtin (148th, 21:25.4), freshman Julia Kearley (183rd, 21:44.7), and sophomores Natalie Holder (214th, 22:09.8) and Rachel Garn (224th, 22:22.8) as the team’s five scorers.
Iona was 35th overall in a stacked 36-team race field which featured 20 ranked programs and five others receiving votes. No. 1 New Mexico was the team winner with 32 points, placing all five scorers in the Top 10. No. 11 Arkansas, No. 17 Virginia, No. 12 NC State and No. 3 Providence rounded out the Top 5.
The split-squad Gaels are in action tomorrow at Layfette’s Leopard Invitational.
