NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The College of New Rochelle hosted John Jay College in Women’s Volleyball action on Saturday afternoon as part of Family Weekend activites at the Wellness Center. The end result was a 3-0 win for the home team. The Blue Angels have now won three straight overall and 12 in a row on their home court.
The Blue Angels won by game scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-15 in the non-conference matchup.
Sophomore Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, PR) led the attack with 11 kills. CNR outhit the Bloodhounds by a 33-15 margin. On serve, CNR held a 15-9 advantage when it came to aces. For the second straight game junior Melanie Ann Lopez Soto (Gurabo, PR) was on fire from the service line, finishing with 8. She had 10 the night before against Sarah Lawrence College. Lopez Soto also led all players with 24 assists.
Defensively, the Blue Angels were led by freshmen libero Stephanie Garcia (Chino, CA) who pulled out 20 digs on the day.
CNR is now 16-7 overall while John Jay falls to 7-13. The Blue Angels finish out the regular season home series when they host Division II Mercy College on Tuesday night at 7pm.
