NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team picked up its third straight victory with a three set win over Quinnipiac in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center. Freshman OH Claire Archibald led the Maroon & Gold with a 16-kill, 14-dig double-double.
Archibald hit .273 in the match and posted an ace and a block for a team-high 17.5 points. Junior MB Karly White had 9.0 points with eight kills and a solo block, hitting .333. Senior RS Kiana McAuley-Pomeroy hit .421 with eight kills on 19 attempts with no errors. Freshman Amanda Gannon recorded six kills and was a stalwart defensively with a career-high 20 digs. She also had 30 service receptions with just one error, more than double the Gaels’ next highest total. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci had 19 digs. Setters Emma Rose and Natalie Ziskin combined for 40 assists. Rose posted 24 with five digs while Ziskin had 16 in the win.
The Bobcats were led by 12 kills apiece from OHs Jen Coffey and Katie Urycki. Setter Kat Miller had eight kills, six digs and 28 assists while DS Emma Ogden posted a team-high 15 digs in the loss.
Iona took the match with set scores 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23.
The Gaels are in action tomorrow vs. Fairfield at the Hynes Center at 1:00 pm.
