NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After 110 hard fought minutes, the Iona College men’s soccer team and Quinnipiac Bobcats battled to a nil-to-nil draw.  Junior Julian Petrello made six saves in his fifth shutout of the season.

Petrello had two monster saves to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard; in the 70th minute he made a diving stop to the near post, halting a great scoring chance by senior midfielder James Greco.  Such a save delayed the game into overtime, where then Petrello made a second game-saving stop.  Junior Mikail Ellis put a shot on goal during the 94th minute, saving a mad scramble opportunity from roughly eight yards out.

Quinnipiac was on the offensive for the majority of the game, firing 21 shots, including seven shots in overtime.  The Iona offense was only able to muster four shots on goal, one in extra time.  Bobcat junior goalie Triston Henry was not needed to make a save throughout the entire game.

The shots for the Maroon & Gold came from sophomore Luis Mendoza, and freshmen Killian Colombie and Daniel Huertas.

The Gaels final regular season game will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 28 against the Manhattan Jaspers at Mazzella Field.  Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm, and senior day festivities will take place roughly fifteen minutes before the start of the match.
