NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action in its penultimate match of the season at the Hynes Center. Freshman Amanda Gannon led the Gaels with an 11-kill, 18-dig double-double, her second straight and fourth of the season.
Gannon’s 11 points were matched by junior MH Karly White with nine kills and three blocks. White hit .368 and recorded four digs in the loss. Freshman OH Clarrie Archibald also had nine kills while hitting .346 with 11 digs. Senior RS Kiana McAuley-Pomeroy added six kills on 19 attempts with no errors (.316). Senior setter Natalie Ziskin was 5-for-10 on attack attempts while adding 21 assists and nine digs. Her complement, freshman Emma Rose added 20 assists and five digs. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci recorded a match-high 23 digs.
Marist was led by Kelsey Lahey’s 18 kills and 12 digs. Setter Amanda Schlegel posted 40 assists with eight kills, 10 digs and two blocks and libero Lexi Millington had 23 digs in the win.
The Gaels closeout their home schedule tomorrow against Siena on Senior Day at the Hynes Center. Iona will honor McAuley-Pomeroy, Ziskin and third-year performer Kate Brodnax who is on pace to graduate early.
