NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An early morning drug sweep in New Rochelle, the third of its kind over the past four years, resulted into 38 people being taken into custody. Arrest warrants were obtained for 49 individual. Police are working to track down the remaining 11 suspects.
City Sweeper 3 was a joint operation of investigators from the New Rochelle Police Department, the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, and special agents from the FBI and DEA.
Officers and agents were deployed throughout this city to search for and execute arrest warrants on dozens of individuals involved in drug trafficking operations in this city. The operation was the conclusion of a seven month long operation conducted by the New Rochelle Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, assisted by the other law enforcement agencies.
Charges include a variety of Criminal Possession and Criminal Sales charges. Many of the individuals arrested have been and are being arrested on multiple counts and charges.
“We expect several more arrests before our operation concludes,” said New Rochelle Police Detective Captain Joseph Schaller.
UPDATED: Sources tell Talk of the Sound that NRPD was up at New Rochelle High School looking for Kelvin WIlson earlier today. He is a cleaner at the school. He has been charged with 2 counts of criminal sale of marijuana.
