NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College volleyball team fell to Manhattan in three sets in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers took the match 25-16, 25-22, 25-18.
Freshman OH Amanda Gannon led the Gaels with a 12-kill, 12-dig double-double. It was her fifth double-double of the season and fourth in the last six matches. She hit .263 in the loss. Freshman OH Claire Archibald posted nine kills, five digs and a block. The Gaels left side tandem combined for 21 of the Gaels 28 total kills.
Senior setter Natalie Ziskin posted 15 assists and eight digs while rookie setter Emma Rose recorded 10 assists and eight digs. Freshman libero Jessica Paolucci added a team-best 14 digs.
Manhattan was led by Milena Janjsevic’s 18 kills and .389 hitting percentage. Claire Van Dyk posted nine kills and 19 digs while setter Jade Gray had 34 assists and 15 digs in the win.
The Gaels complete the 2015 regular season this upcoming week with three matches on the road. Iona takes on Saint Peter’s Wednesday (Nov. 11) at 7:00 pm before back-to-back 1:00 pm first serves at Quinnipiac Saturday (Nov. 14) and Fairfield Sunday (Nov. 15).
