NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Iona College women’s cross country team finished 13th at the 2015 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at historic Franklin Park. Senior Tara Jameson led the Gaels in the 6k event with at 37th place finish.
Jameson completed the event in 21:43.5. Senior Melissa Hawtin was Iona’s second finisher in 65th place with a time of 22:10.4. Sophomore Rachel Garn (89th, 22:28.6) and freshmen Kristina Bozic (94th, 22:33.0) and Julia Kearley (104th, 22:38.1) were Iona’s other scorers.
Providence took first in the event with a team score of 49. Syracuse, Brown, Boston College and Yale rounded out the top five teams. The Gaels were the top MAAC finisher, besting Quinnipiac (18th), Marist (20th), Canisius (25th), Manhattan (29th), Siena (32nd), Fairfield (34th) and Niagara (38th). Monmouth, Rider, and Saint Peter’s compete in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
