NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Chamber of Commerce and the City of New Rochelle carry on a festive tradition this year on Thursday, December 3rd at Memorial Plaza in Downtown New Rochelle.  The Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree (this year a 22’ Norway Spruce) and the Hanukkah Menorah will be conducted by Bob Marrone, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Noam Bramson and religious leaders of the New Rochelle Community starting promptly at 6 PM.  All are invited to this complimentary event as each spiritual leader will represent the solemnity and spirit their respective holiday in a short service.  The ceremony will signify the unity of the diverse and harmonious community of New Rochelle as they come together to celebrate the joy of the season.  Carols will be sung by the well-known Songcatchers and people who choose to sing along.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, none other than Santa Claus will appear compliments of his good friends at the New Rochelle Fire Department.  Of course, Santa, as always, is jolly and happy to meet anyone who made the nice list and sometimes naughty ones too!  Anyone can join in the festivities and continue the merriment afterward as the party moves a little further down the block to Alvin and Friends at 14 Memorial Highway for some hot chocolate and treats compliments of the Chamber and Alvin & Friends.
