NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A man in his 30’s was rushed to a Bronx hospital after he was struck by a vehicle after stepping out onto Harrison Street near a side entrance of an apartment building located at 389 Main Street.
The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in “serious condition”, according to New Rochelle Police Sergeant Myron Joseph. The man underwent brain surgery as a result of the collision.
The man was struck by the driver of a Ford Focus shortly after 7 p.m.
An hour later the street was still cordoned off by police with police vehicles and yellow crime scene tape as a forensic team worked the scene where blood could be scene in the street and a a baseball hat was on the ground near where the man had been struck. The Ford Focus was parked nearby.
Joseph said the driver of the vehicle had not been arrested and was “cooperating” with police investigators.
