NEW ROCHELLE – A 22-year-old man was arrested Nov. 16 for allegedly forcing his way into an ex-girlfriend’s apartment and fondling her.

Daniel Rijo Jr., whose address was not provided, was charged with burglary and forcible touching, according to a report from the New Rochelle Police Department.
Police allege Rijo touched the woman’s breasts and vagina without consent prior to Nov. 16.

Police said the incident occurred when the woman answered the door for Rijo after seeing him through a peephole in her front door, she told police. The woman said she believed her ex-boyfriend wanted to retrieve a book from her apartment so she opened the door.

After grabbing the book, Rijo forced his way into her apartment, police said. The woman told police she asked Rijo repeatedly to leave and tried to prevent him from entering her bedroom. Rijo allegedly pushed her against a wall and fondled her, according to police. He then entered her bedroom, confiscated her cell phone and threatened to kill her and her boyfriend’s family, the woman told police.

The woman managed to escape to a nearby apartment but Rijo grabbed her and pushed her back into her apartment, she told police. The woman told police Rijo began to scream at her and push her in attempt to prevent her from leaving the apartment again. She was eventually able to leave the apartment with Rijo. Once outside, Rijo returned the woman’s cell phone and she immediately called Monroe Security for help, she told police.

Police arrested Rijo at an office at Monroe College on Main Street. No bail was set.
