NEW YORK, NY — Luciano “Lou” Cascio, 83, a longtime area resident, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at his home in Amenia, NY. Mr. Cascio owned and operated Cascio Landscaping in New Rochelle for 47 years retiring in 2002.
Born on November 10, 1932 in New Rochelle, NY he was the son of the late Rosario and Anna (Leone) Cascio. Mr. Cascio attended Isaac E. Young Middle School and Blessed Sacrament High School both in New Rochelle, NY. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 7th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. On September 21, 1996 in Dover Plains, NY, he married Patricia Brown who survives at home.
Mr. Cascio was a member of the American Legion Post # 8 in New Rochelle, NY and VFW Post #5444 in Dover Plains, NY. He was also a member of the Italian Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also was a longtime member of the NRA. Mr. Cascio was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Cascio is survived by four daughters, Marianne Cascio of Warwick, NY, Susan Johnson of Greenburg, NY, Marybeth Cascio of Patterson, NY and Susan Morford and her husband, Harold of Amenia, NY; three sons, Charles Chamberlain and his wife Myrna of Marlboro, NY, Timothy Chamberlain and his wife Terri, of Summit, NY and Randy Chamberlain and his wife Tina, of St. Johnsbury, VT. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Cascio of Poughkeepsie, NY and six grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and Megan, Stephanie, Shelby, Mariah and Mollie Chamberlain; a nephew, Lenny Petruzzi and his wife, Michelle and family of Yonkers, NY and a niece, Dena Vitale and her husband Anthony of Mahopac, NY and his longtime friend, Joseph Iannello of New Rochelle, NY and his beloved cat, Leo. Besides his parents, Mr. Cascio was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Cascio and Rose Petruzzi.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. V.F.W. Post #5444 will conduct services at 7 p.m. at funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 15 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY.
