WHITE PLAINS, NY — Congressman Eliot L. Engel (D-NY), a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is pleased to announce that following his formal request, the Small Business Association (SBA) will be opening a new Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) in Westchester County to help New Yorkers affected by Superstorm Sandy request low-interest disaster loans. The SBA had previously announced the opening of 11 new centers throughout the New York City region, none of which were located in Westchester County. Starting Monday, December 21st the new office will be located in the Westchester County Center, located at 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY 10607. The hours of operation will be Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“I thank the SBA for not only heeding my request for a DLOC in Westchester County, but also for responding to the request so quickly,” Congressman Engel said. “Superstorm Sandy took a devastating toll on many Westchester communities, and the idea that those still suffering from the damage would not be provided in-person assistance in their home county was unacceptable. Now, home and small business owners will be able to receive the help and guidance they need as they navigate through the application process, from trained professionals at a centralized location right here in Westchester.”
Businesses and residents affected by Sandy between the dates of Oct. 27th and Nov. 8th 2012 have until December 1st, 2016 to submit applications for physical damage and economic injury sustained. The SBA will also have customer service representatives available to those filing by phone, at 1-800-659-2955 or by email at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Applications can also be submitted online, at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
“I encourage those affected by Sandy to use the services provided by the SBA at this more convenient location,” Engel said.
