NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Monroe College women’s basketball team fell to Dean College, 71-60, in a game played in Franklin, Massachusetts over the weekend. Gabrielle Jubinville had a double-double of 21 points and 17 rebounds on 9-14 shooting. Breanna Dennis finished with 16 points and three steals.
Monroe led at the half, 33-31, but faded down the stretch to drop to 3-10 on the season. The Mustangs led by five points after one quarter. The largest lead in the first was eight points, when a Fatouma Coulibaly three-pointer made the score 17-9. The team led 17-12 after one.
The advantage got up to 14 points, when a Jubinville layup made the score 28-14 with 6:54 to go. Samantha Hines made a couple of foul shots late. The score at halftime was 33-31 for Monroe.
Monroe held the lead until the 8:39 mark of the third quarter, when Dean took the lead for good. They went on to win, 71-60. Coulibaly made her first start of the season and finished with nine points and ten rebounds.
The Monroe College women’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday, December 19, when they host the Mustangs Winter Tip Off tournament. They face Patrick Henry College at 3:00 PM.
